About this book
This book describes the synthesis, properties, and processing methods of poly(lactic acid) (PLA), an important family of degradable plastics. As the need for environmentally-friendly packaging materials increases, consumers and companies are in search for new materials that are largely produced from renewable resources, and are recyclable. To that end, an overall theme of the book is the biodegradability, recycling, and sustainability benefits of PLA. The chapters, from a base of international expert contributors, describe specific processing methods, spectroscopy techniques for PLA analysis, and and applications in medical items, packaging, and environmental use.

About this book
While lactic acid-producing fermentation has long been used to improve the storability, palatability, and nutritive value of perishable foods, only recently have we begun to understand just why it works. Since the publication of the third edition of Lactic Acid Bacteria: Microbiological and Functional Aspects, substantial progress has been made in a number of areas of research. Completely updated, the Fourth Edition covers all the basic and applied aspects of lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria, from the gastrointestinal tract to the supermarket shelf. Topics discussed in the new edition include: Revised taxonomy due to improved insights in genetics and new molecular biological techniques New discoveries related to the mechanisms of lactic acid bacterial metabolism and function An improved mechanistic understanding of probiotic functioning Applications in food and feed preparation Health properties of lactic acid bacteria The regulatory framework related to safety and efficacy Maintaining the accessible style that made previous editions so popular, this book is ideal as an introduction to the field and as a handbook for microbiologists, food scientists, nutritionists, clinicians, and regulatory experts.

    Works better than promised!

I was nervous to purchase this product because the majority of reviews on here are from people who received the product at discount or free to give a review; those weren't credible reviews to me. I couldn't find anything with a stronger LA percentage and after a bit of research I decided to go for it. This product works great! I am a mixed race girl with medium brown skin. I bought this product for skin lightening and acne scar correction. The directions are very clear and concise. Other than the product you just need cotton balls and some baking soda on stand by. After you wash your face as usual, apply this, let sit 2 mins, wash off, apply your toner and moisturizer. Keep baking soda on standby in case it starts to burn (it should barely tingle, but not burn). This is best to use at night and make sure you wear sun screen in the morning. Make sure you follow the directions exactly. This product is acid; it can and will burn if misused.Your skin will peel for... 5/5 korie Parker - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Peel!

5/5 Brenna - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ASDM Beverly Hills 90% Lactic Acid Peel, 2 Ounce (Health and Beauty) Use this peel every other week. I am pleased with this one but it is quite strong, so be prepared to rinse with your baking soda water. Over the years I have used a peel of different types and strengths. I always use a cotton ball to apply the acid to my clean dry skin and immediately put baking soda in the sink and add water so I can be ready to splash water on my face to nutrilize the acid. I also wet a cloth with the baking soda water to dab my face for a few minutes after. I've never been able to leave it on for more than minutes. Remember I have been using peels for years. So start out with something milder. For me at this level it helps keep the age spots away and my lines are few. I am in my late 50's.
